Christopher’s Path

Christopher is a very active 10-year-old.  He’s in many sports – flag football, basketball, baseball and soccer.  All of that came to a screeching halt on December 30, 2010.  He was officially diagnosed with Legg-Calve-Perthes disease in the left hip.  The orthopedic surgeon had originally diagnosed him with Meyer’s Dysplasia.  Since then, we have discovered our path and it leads straight to Baltimore, Maryland to Dr. Shawn Standard at the Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics. He discovered that Christopher didn’t just have LCPD in one hip but both.  He called Christopher ‘ancient’ in Perthes years.  We have the opportunity to have a core decompression surgery on the right hip and we have it scheduled for March 25, 2011.
